Should I BUY the Excalibur Dehydrator or the Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator?
Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator Filled with Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Slices
The Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator
- Performance and Design Intersect
A new standard for dehydrators is found in the Tribest Sedona Raw Food Dehydrator. Performance and design intersect producing a kitchen appliance that is stylish and modern with a digital control panel and a hinged glass door. But the greatest excitement for me is the QUIET fans and the ability to use only one or both depending on how much I want to dehydrate. For RAW FOOD enthusiasts, this is a dream-come-true dehydrator!

Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator
Modern Design

Right out of the box, the Sedona Raw Food Dehydrator is extremely easy to set-up with clearly marked controls and an easy to read digital display. The placement of the controls, hinged-glass-panel-door, and the LED display are designed to maximize efficiency and ease of use. And the Sedona is extremely quiet during operation and manages the heated air in the drying compartment evenly and accurately.

Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator with Shelves Pulled Out and Door Opened
Tray Size

The nine Sedona Dehydrator trays have hefty lipped edges to confine everything I dehydrate during the loading and unloading process. The edges take up valuable space as far as the square footage, but the savings in clean-ups is a real bonus feature.

One solid catch tray is included to use when only one-half of the dehydrator is used. And it is also a nice addition for placing below trays to catch debris from granola, nuts, or other items that produce dust or crumbs.

I’ve been using the Excalibur Dehydrator since 2011 and it’s a workhorse. But I never liked the fact that their nine trays had no edges to keep my fruits and veggies from slipping off when carrying the trays to and from the dehydrator. Yes, no edges give one more square foot of drying space, but the lack of edges means more time spent cleaning up inside and outside the dehydrator.

Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator Control Panel

The Control Panel
What JOY! The Control Panel is on the FRONT of the Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator! At a glance I see exactly how much time is left and what temperate I’ve chosen to dehydrate my raw vegan recipes.

The Excalibur’s Control Panel is found at the back-right-corner. This means I have to reach over the top nineteen inches to twist the knob to start. And depending on the cabinet clearance, it’s very hard to see the settings. Not to mention not knowing what the temperature actually is during the cooking process without using a digital temperature gun.

Timer Control on the Sedona allows me set my times up to 99 hours, the Excalibur only gives me 26 hours.

Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator Interior Low-Noise FanThe Noise Levels
And at night I can choose the Sedona QUIET mode for less white noise. But personally, the Sedona is REALLY QUIET in comparison to the fan noise on the Excalibur. Yes, the Excalibur fan is large and sturdy, but boy is it noisy. I could not believe how quiet the Sedona was, in fact if I didn’t do recording in my kitchen, I would have it on the countertop. Currently, I use the Sedona and Excalibur in a laundry room/storage area.

The Sedona Dehydrator Dual Fan Technology allows me to operate each of the Sedona's two 300-watt computer-controlled fans and heating elements in the two drying compartments together or independently of each other. Discrete control over the two drying compartment allows the Sedona to operate at 600 watt or 300 watt power, depending on how many trays I fill with items for dehydration.
Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator Heat LevelsAccurate Temperature Levels
Unlike the Excalibur, the Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator NEVER overheats! The graph shows that the Sedona temperatures remain below 118 Degrees F at ALL TIMES!

A separate heat sensor monitors the current temperature of each independent fan-heater set within its own compartment which improves the efficiency and overall quality of the dehydration process.

Countertop Placement
It is important to keep at least 5 inches of space on both sides of the Sedona to allow the air to circulate fully during the dehydrating process. So plan your countertop space wisely to prevent damage to the unit or foods not dehydrating properly.
Interior of the Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator Without ShelvesThe Hinged Door
The beauty of a hinged-door on the Sedona Rawfood Dehydrator is the convenience of having it catch anything that may get dropped. And with two filled trays in hand it’s a one finger pull to open the Sedona door and insert the trays easily.

Snappy Clean-Ups
The Sedona Dehydrator is a breeze to clean. I can easily hand-wash, rinse and dry the liners and trays. And the interior sometimes needs a vacuuming for crumbs or a simple wipe with a damp cloth.

Paraflex Liner Sheets Imprinted with Excalibur LogoTray Liners
Paraflex Sheet Liners are necessary for lining the trays when creating raw recipes that are more moist and contain liquid. I recommend buying the Paraflex Sheets that are 14: x 14”. These sheets will need to be cut to 14” x 11.75” to fit the smaller Sedona Dehydrator Trays. Buying the non-printed version costs less and is made from the same material.

BUY a Pack of 9 Premium 14" x 14" Non-Stick Dehydrator Sheets- Will Need Cutting to Fit Sedona Dehydrator Trays.

IMPORTANT: These Non-Stick Dehydrator Sheet Liners are intended for dehydrator use only at lower temperatures: 55 degrees F - 155 degrees F.
