Vegan Cookbook Review
Color Me Vegan
by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau
Color Me Vegan by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau
Color Me Vegan by Colleen Patrick-Goudreau

In Color Me Vegan, author and vegan extraordinaire Colleen Patrick-Goudreau brings an edible rainbow of plant-based cuisine to your kitchen table with 150 flavorful recipes designed to boost your health and perk up your palate.

With color as the guiding principle behind each section, Colleen shows vegetarians, vegans, and everyone in between exactly how phytonutrients—the most powerful, pigmented antioxidants on earth, found in everything from select fruits and vegetables, to grains, legumes, nuts, and seeds—can be expertly incorporated into your meals for the greatest nutritional punch.
Seared Tempeh with Cherry Balsamic Reduction Sauce
Seared Tempeh with Cherry Balsamic Reduction Sauce, Color Me Red, page 33.

From the Color Me RED Section of Color Me Vegan, I created the Seared Tempeh with Cherry Balsamic Reduction Sauce on page 33. This recipe provided a flavorful addition atop my Vegan Polenta Recipe. This sauce is gourmet outstanding and I'll be preparing it again for us and for my non-vegan dinners to experience at my next dinner party. I served it with medley of green lettuces and a my Basic Vinaigrette Salad Dressing.

Contents
Color Me Vegan is printed on color matte finished paper and the photographs are nicely done, but printed on the same matte paper (not my favorite). And the color coding is an interest design take and a plus for indexing recipes. But I'd prefer more glossy photos of all key recipes. But you already know I like glossy thick paper for cookbooks and that I want to see the finished recipes!

Color Me Vegan recipes are divided into Color Chapters: Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue/Purple, White/Tan, Black/Brown, and The Rainbow.

Examples from the “Color Me Blue” chapter, includes:
—Radicchio Fennel Salad with Caper Dressing
—Chilled Blueberry Mango Soup
—Lavender-Roasted Purple Onions
—Eggplant with Dengaku (Sweet Miso) Sauce
—Purple Plum Pie with Crumble Topping
